Stafford Interact Club Brings Democracy Project to Stafford Recreation Campers
The Stafford Interact Club recently wrapped up another exciting chapter of its Democracy Project by treating campers from the Stafford Recreation Program to a special ice cream party at Staffordville Lake.
The celebration served as a follow-up to the club's original Democracy Project event, ensuring that campers who were unable to attend the first program still had the opportunity to participate and receive the educational materials. Interact and Rotary volunteers distributed copies of For Which We Stand: How Our Government Works and Why It Matters by Jeff Foster, along with an American flag pin and a "Democracy Rocks" pencil to each camper.
A special thank you goes to Ice Cream Depot for generously donating the ice cream, including a patriotic vanilla flavor topped with red, white, and blue sprinkles appropriately named "American Dream." The sweet treat was the perfect way to celebrate civic engagement while enjoying a beautiful summer day by the lake.
The Rotary Club of Stafford is incredibly proud of the Stafford Interact Club for continuing to find creative ways to engage young people in learning about democracy, citizenship, and community service. Projects like these demonstrate that education can be both meaningful and fun, while helping inspire the next generation of informed and active citizens.
