27 Sep. 2025 Stafford AppleFest Sep. 27, 2025 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Stafford AppleFest Saturday, September 27, 2025 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Stafford AppleFest returns on Saturday, September 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrating autumn’s iconic fruit, the vibrant arts of the community, and the flavors and fun of the season. Activities will take place throughout downtown, including Haymarket Common, Hyde Park, Main Street, the Historical Society, and Grace Episcopal Church. The festival will feature homemade seasonal baked goods, family-friendly activities, artisan vendors, handcrafted works, civic group displays, fall-inspired food and beverages, apple pressing demonstrations, live music, and more. Patrons are encouraged to explore Downtown Stafford Springs, where local shops will join in the festivities. Entertainment highlights include Surely Steven Acoustic, performing soulful solo covers, and The Natural Disasters, a local trio delivering Americana, Bluegrass, and roots music. Visitors can also watch chainsaw artist KatCarves create dynamic sculptures in a live performance. Exciting competitions include apple pie eating and donut-on-a-string contests for kids and adults on the Spring Street Bridge, and apple peeling contests at Haymarket Common. Festival favorites also return, including Grace Episcopal Church’s freshly baked apple pies and apple crumb, soups, warm lunches, and beverages. Vendors, food trucks, community organizations, and businesses may apply to participate through September 22. The Events & Celebrations Committee is also seeking volunteers to help make the event a success. AppleFest Attractions & Activities Cider Pressing Demonstrations Learn how people have historically used the harvests from their orchards. Historical Society volunteers will demonstrate making cider with an apple press between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Don’t forget to stop by the Museum Open House! Cider & Beer Sampling in Haymarket Common Sample what’s on tap with the Stafford Cidery & Off the Rails Brewing: 11:00 AM- 3:00 PM. Positive ID required. Vendor Village on Spring Explore a bustling marketplace featuring a diverse range of vendors, offering unique goods and products. Taking place along the ASB driveway next to Middle River, off Spring Street. KatCarves: Eclectic Chainsaw Art Catch chainsaw artist KatCarves in action as she transforms raw wood into incredible works of art. 13 Nov. 2025 "Fighting for Home" Documentary & Panel Discussion Nov. 13, 2025 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Join us for a screening and panel discussion on the CT Public documentary "Fighting for Home: How Housing Policy Keeps CT Segregated". Stafford Rotary, in partnership with the Center for Housing Opportunity of Eastern CT, will be screening "Fighting for Home", a film that explores exclusionary zoning and redlining in Connecticut, which created barriers to housing opportunity that have persisted over time. The film follows several Connecticut residents as they tell their stories and talk about current housing situations, from a woman buying her first home to a family navigating living in a shelter. The film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring local community members to better understand what they are seeing in their day to day work, share ideas, and open a conversation around housing in Stafford. Our panel speakers will be: Judy Gardner Judy Gardner is the Executive Director of Stafford Family Services, an outpatient mental health clinic and department of the Town of Stafford. She has served in this role for ten years and previously worked in housing and employment programs funded by state and federal agencies. Ann Marie Perrone Ann Marie Perrone has been the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the Town of Stafford since 2011 and brings more than 35 years of experience in affordable housing. Jennifer Strong Jennifer Strong serves as the Town of Stafford’s Social Services Liaison, a role she has held for nearly eight years. With a background in community programs and mental and behavioral health, she is dedicated to meeting residents’ basic needs through collaboration, advocacy, and compassionate support. Dinner will be provided (Rotary members - please bring $10 each payable in cash at the event). 13 Dec. 2025 Stafford Winterfest Parade Dec. 13, 2025 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Stafford WinterFest The brightest night in Stafford returns to ring in the holiday season on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (weather date December 14). A festive hometown tradition, WinterFest features live performances, visits with Santa, a community bonfire, the Parade of Lights, hundreds of luminaries throughout Main Street, and more! Parade of Lights - 5:00pm Step-off from the corner of Olympic Annex/West Main Street, proceeds to Main Street and concludes at Town Hall/Holt Fountain. Businesses, organizations, clubs, civic groups, and residents are all welcome to be part of the fun! Whether you're part of a float, marching group, or driving a decorated vehicle, we encourage all entries to be brightly illuminated for a dazzling evening display. The parade will step off just after dusk, and we ask that all participants ensure their entries are well-lit for optimal viewing. Viewing is everywhere between Olympic Circle and Town Hall.
