Join the Stafford Historical Society on Tuesday, May 10th, at 7:00 p.m. for a PowerPoint presentation on the History of Downtown Stafford presented by Becky Kraussmann. Take an armchair tour of Stafford from the early 19th century into the 20th century. See sketches from 1804, a map going back to 1857 and photos from the 1870s. What did Stafford used to look like? What remains of the early buildings and infrastructure of the downtown area?
Also, Brian Goeprich from the Rotary Club of Stafford will give a presentation on their five-year project plan for a Stafford Self-Guided Tour. The Stafford Historical Society is working with the Rotarians on this project. Markers, which will be placed at key locations, will have information and a QR code that anyone with a smartphone can scan to learn more about the history and importance of that site of building.
The presentations will be preceded by a short business meeting. Contact Dave Bartlett at (860) 684-5115 with any questions. The event is free and open to the public. The location is the Stafford Senior and Community Center, 3 Buckley Highway, Stafford Springs, CT.
